音声だけじゃなく写真も一緒にPodcasting
ポッドキャスティングを可能にしているのが、RSS2.0から対応した「enclosure」タグ。このタグで、RSS内の音声ファイルが自動的にiPodに転送されますが、実は音声ファイル以外でも同じようなことが可能です。
コンピューター技術書の名門出版社・O’Reillyのサイトでは、RSSによって配信された画像をポッドキャスティングソフト「iPodderX」で自動的にダウンロードし、音声ファイルを一緒にiPod photoで再生する方法を紹介しています。

iPodderXには、登録されたRSSの中の音声ファイルだけではなく、画像のURLが含まれていれば自動的にダウンロードする機能がある。それを使って画像をダウンロードし、マックの画像管理ソフト「iPhoto」に一旦保存。その後iTunesの「アートワーク」という曲に対して画像を紐付けする機能で、曲の演奏時にダウンロードした画像を自動表示するように設定するという感じ。
先々週にiPod photoの新シリーズが発表され、かなりお手ごろ価格で買えるようになりました（前回記事）。個人的な予想では、画像が見れる機能は今後はiPodの標準機能になり、音楽と写真を同時に楽しむスタイルが増えてくると思っています。
そうした時に、今までは音声だけをポッドキャスティングで配信していたのが、写真も一緒にRSSで配信するようになってくると思う。
例えば旅行の写真にそれぞれの場所の説明の音声をつけたポッドキャスティングとか、音楽を紹介する番組でジャケット写真も一緒に配信するとか。
音声+写真のポッドキャスティング、いろいろ面白いことが考えられそう。
