ポッドキャスティングに配慮した音楽許諾契約
アメリカで音楽の著作権管理を行う団体「ASCAP」（米国音楽著作権団体）が、インターネットでの音楽許諾契約に新しいルールを追加した（発表はこちら）。
※ASCAPは日本で言うところのJASRACと思えばわかりやすいです
その内容は、ネット上で60秒未満の音楽を流す時（かつ、視聴者側がどの音楽を聴くかという選択ができない場合）には、1年で250ドルの支払いをASCAPに対してすれば済むようになるというもの。
250ドルの価格についてですが、ほぼ毎日番組を流すポッドキャスターにとっては、自由に60秒未満の音楽を流せるなら安いと感じるのではないでしょうか？
今回の動きは、ポッドキャスティングで個人が著作権のある音楽を流す場合を想定して考えられたという見方が強い。
ポッドキャスティングで著作権のある音楽が違法に流されることに対して、ただ規制するのではなく、ある一定のルールの下で個人が使いやすいようにルールを整備し、著作権を持つアーティストにも収益があるようになった。
法的にも、どんどんポッドキャスティングが広まる下地ができつつあるというのが感想。
