米国のポッドキャスティング利用者は推定20万人？
アメリカのinternetnews.comで発表されたRSSリーダーのシェアについての記事より。
RSS (define) service provider Feedburner's informal study on RSS Aggregator market statistics is providing an early benchmark for measuring the nascent sector.
記事内ではRSSリーダーのトップ20位までが公表されていますが、10位と15位にポッドキャスティングに使われる専用ソフト「iPodder」と「iPodder X」がランクインしている。
10. iPodder (2.42%)
11. NewsGator (2.23%)
12. Thunderbird (2.13%)
13. RSS Bandit (1.12%)
14. NewsFire (1.05%)
15. iPodderX (1.02%)
２つのソフトをあわせると、RSSリーダーの中で約3.4%のシェアになる。
「米国ブログ読者数、9カ月で6割増の3200万人」（IT Pro）という記事によると、アメリカの成人インターネット・ユーザー1億2000万人のうちRSSリーダーを利用する成人ユーザーは5％（＝600万人）。その中の3.4%である20.4万人が、ポッドキャスティングのためのRSSリーダーソフトを使っているという計算がかなり強引に導き出せる。
日本ではまだポッドキャスティングを楽しむひとは1万人にも満たないと思うので、今後アメリカのように普及していくのかどうか、引き続き注目です。
