ポッドキャスティングを聞くための基礎知識
ポッドキャスティングを始めるために、まずは知っておきたいことについてここでは説明します。
「ポッドキャスティングとは？」というところで説明をしましたが、ポッドキャスティングは専用ソフトを使って好きなネットラジオ局を登録して、放送が更新された時に自動的にパソコンに音声ファイル（MP3など）をダウンロードし、iPodなどのポータブルMP3プレーヤーにファイルを転送して聞くという楽しみ方のことです。
■ステップ１「専用ソフトを入手しよう」
そのため、まずは専用ソフトをパソコンにダウンロードすることが必要になります。
専用ソフトについては、「ポッドキャスティングのためのソフト」というカテゴリで取り上げていますので、まずはそちらを見て頂いて、専用ソフトを入手して下さい。
ちなみに個人的には、「iPodder」というフリーソフトが1番使いやすくて最初はおすすめです。「iPodder」の入手方法と設定方法については、こちらの記事をご参照下さい。
追記：「iPodder」には1部不安定な部分があることがわかったため、Windowsをお使いの方は「doppler」というソフトをお勧めします。設定方法はこちら。
■ステップ２「ネットラジオ局で番組を探そう」
専用ソフトの入手したら、次はいよいよポッドキャスティングに対応したネットラジオ局を探します。
探すために便利なサイトがいくつかあるので、そこを利用すると効率よく自分のお気に入りの番組が見つかると思います。
まずは本場のアメリカでは、全て英語のネットラジオ局になりますが、以下のサイトで探すことができます。アメリカから始まっただけに、番組数の多さには圧倒されます。英語の勉強に聞いてみてはいかがでしょうか？
それぞれカテゴリ別に並んでいるため、興味のあるものを見つけやすいです。
次に日本語の番組を探す場合ですが、現状ではポッドキャスティングに対応したネットラジオ局が少ないため、探すサイトも「デジオの宇宙色々」というサイトぐらいしかないという状況です。
探すための方法については、「お気に入りの番組の探し方」というところでもっと詳しく説明していますので、そちらをご参照下さい。
■ステップ３「専用ソフトにお気に入りの番組を登録する」
お気に入りの番組が見つかったら、ステップ１で手に入れた専用ソフトに、そのサイトを登録しましょう。
ネットラジオに対応したサイトというのは、サイトのどこかに「ポッドキャスティングに対応したサイトです」ということをわかりやすくするために、下のようなバナーがはってあると思います（はっていない場合もあります）。
バナーをクリックすると、下のようなRSSのテキストが書かれたページが表示されます（1部のブラウザによっては表示されないこともあります）。
RSSを見た時に、RSSのバージョンが「2.0」で、mp3ファイルのURLが「enclosuer」というタグで囲まれているのが確認できれば、そのRSSはポッドキャスティングに対応しているということになります。

そのRSSのＵＲＬを専用サイトに登録すれば、ポッドキャスティングを始めるための準備は完了です。
※ブラウザの関係上でRSSが表示できない場合は、先ほど紹介したポッドキャスティングの対応をあらわすバナーの上にマウスカーソルをあわせ、右クリックで表示されるメニューで「ショートカットのコピー」を選択してRSSのURLをコピーし、それを専用ソフトに登録して下さい。

■ステップ４「専用ソフトで番組の情報をダウンロード」
ここまで来ればあとは専用ソフトが番組の情報を自動的にダウンロードしてくれるので、ダウンロードした番組をiPodなどのMP3プレーヤーで聞く、またはパソコンで聞くなど、いろいろな聞き方で楽しんでみてくださいね。
